prettyprettychickychicky sent: Skipping up to Toby, Popuri carried a necklace made of seashells with her. "Hello, Toby! Remember me?" she asked, smiling widely. "I was dared to make necklaces out of seashells and give the to people to wear for the day, and I thought of you! You like fishing, right? So you wouldn't mind wearing this all day?" She holds it out to him, smiling.

He smiled as his mun decided to pretend this wasn’t horrifically late, and smiled softly. “Of course I remember you. Popuri, right?” He tilted his head and took a look at the necklace in her hands, “so you made me a necklace? Umm..I..” He laughed in embarrassment. “Sure, I’ll wear it-” with a motion of his hand, he had taken it from the pinkette and placed it around his neck. “thank you very much.”

Toby’s brow furrowed as he stopped in front of the Brass Bar, adjusting the fishing rod on his shoulder. It had been getting awfully hot lately, even in the later hours of the evening, and he could feel the sweat on his brow as he had wandered through Harmonica Town.

Feeling a pressure begin at the back of his eyes, he stepped into the bar, setting his fishing rod next to the door and going to sit down, willing the headache to go away. He had done his best to take care of himself, keeping a close eye on his energy, and yet… he punched the bridge of his nose, mumbling something to himself.

Chase poked his head out of the bar once hearing somebody come in. Oh, gosh darn it, he was hardly presentable. His usually buttoned up shirt was undone, and his apron wasn’t there, the heat had been getting to him as well as he was doing anything to get cool. Though, with a customer around, he buttoned up his shirt and threw the apron back on, walking over to where Toby sat down. “Hello, welcome to the Brass Bar, may I get you something?” he asked, knowing that sentence by heart from having to say it so much.

Toby blinked at the familiar voice, and looked up, face pale and eyes slightly open as his brow furrowed. It really had been a while since he last saw Chase, save for when he visited the fishery for fresh ingredients, but he was always happy to see his friend. “ah.. Hello, Chase.” The fisherman smiled, despite the pain in his head, and removed his hat from his back to hang it on the back part of the chair. “erm.. Just water, for now, I think. It has been almost unnecessarily hot lately, don’t you agree?”

Chase nods as he walks to the bar, but doesn’t stop the conversation. “It has, I agree. It’s been torture to cook, what with the extra heat from the fires.” He grabs a glass from the cabinets and fills it with cold water, putting a slice of lemon on the tip of the glass. Much more classy. He walked back over and put the glass on the table. “Here you go.” He pulls his apron up to his hands, wiping them clean.

Toby brushed his bangs out of his face and sighed as his head swam lightly. The heat had never sat well with him, even when he was young. He always ended up suffering from heat exhaustion in some way or another as a result of his weak constitution, and he could feel it begin to set in, even now, as he waited for his water.

Looking up at chase when he returned, he weakly smiled up at the redhead and motioned to the seat across from him. “why don’t you sit with me, Chase? It’s a slow day anyways…We can catch up?” He had never really gotten to know the chef, but the two of them got along well enough, and so, there was no harm in making friendly conversation, as far as he thought.

Toby chuckled quietly and nudged him back, leave it to Luke… “of course I slept well, you should know by now.. I ah- had to sleep most of yesterday, too.” He didn’t get into too much detail about that, but Luke was most likely already somewhat aware of how easily he got sick during the summer. He watched as Luke messily devoured his food, smiling at his best friend wryly. “I miss watching Boss jump on you while you sleep. I should come visit again soon..” He turned to the two rods and picked up the closer one, setting it next to Luke, before taking his own up again.

“We can get started after you finish eating. I’m.. not sure how much you’ll enjoy this, though.” He smiled lightly. “it involves being quiet for a long while.”

Luke nodded and grinned at his best friend. “Dude, yes! Pops misses your company~” Luke laughed and finished off his food, then picked up the fishing pole and eyed it warily. “Being quiet, huh? I can always try.” He smiled at Toby and shrugged. “So, how the hell do I work this?” He gestured the fishing pole. He really had no idea what he was doing. He’d seen Toby and even Akari fish numerous times, but still didn’t know what to do.

Toby laughed softly and picked up his own fishing pole, motioning to for Luke to take a look at the various parts. “It’s a bit more complicated than your Axe, I’m afraid, but it should be easy to understand.” He took a moment to explain the various parts, like the hook, and how the small weights on the line would weigh it down enough and at the same time attract the fish closer with their reflective surfaces.

"So you see, you just need to cast the line like this.." he demonstrated with his own, then locked the reel. "and then you wait, see?" His eyes opened slightly as he smiled at his friend. "The reason you need to be quiet is because water carries sound very well, and so even the slightest sound can startle the fish.. Think you can do it?"

Toby hummed a… (lol shortened this shit up)

Luke smiled sheepishly and took a seat next to Toby, grabbing the boxed lunch from him happily. “Sorry, dude!” He opened the lunch and began eating at once, not wanting to waste a single second. If he was going to do this, he was going to do it right and with all he’s got. “Yeah, I slept pretty good. Bo wasn’t snoring and Boss didn’t jump on my bed.” He laughed at the memory of the behemoth of a dog jumping on his stomach, making him fall off of his bed a while back.

“How about you?” he joked. “Did you sleep well?” He chuckled lightly and nudged Toby slightly with his shoulder while he ate.
